Rail Dust

By ECP Incorporated

Rail dust occurs most commonly when vehicles are transported by train rail from the factory to a city. The metal wheels of the train cars running on metal rails create small particles of iron and steel that can fly into the air and land on the horizontal painted surfaces of the vehicles being transported. In addition, rail dust particles can also land on vehicles simply from driving by an industrial area or parking near train tracks. The result – hot metal particles can melt their way into a vehicle’s unprotected painted surfaces, leaving behind tiny orange visible spots.

ECP’s patented Diamond Ceramic Exterior Protection® is the first ever long-term protective coating to combine nano diamonds with ceramic technology. Together, these two technologies maintain 97.8% of your vehicle’s gloss and shine over 7 years, while filling in the surfaces of the factory painted surfaces to prevent even the most harmful substances – such as rail dust – from damaging the clearcoat. Diamond Ceramic Exterior Protection® also contains a unique polymer blend that creates tight water beading while helping reduce the adhesion of rail dust and other environmental impurities. Contaminants are easily rinsed and removed, without permanent damage to the vehicle’s paint or clearcoat.
